The story so far!!
" We booked the ferry just before Christmas and at that point we new the journey was on for sure!
The ferry changed from the original plan to sail to Esbjerg to sailing from Newcastle to Gothenburg.
Soon as we could in January we sent of to Russia Direct for our Visa’s which we received back promptly.
Then Car breakdown insurance including Russia (West of the Urals) was obtain from the RAC along with travel insurance.
We also got our international drivers licenses sorted.
With most of the paper work done we got on to the fun bit of preparing.

We took a flight to Newcastle to see Montane who are supplying us with our outdoor extreme weather gear. After leaving there factory outlet laden with gear we moved on to Wildtracks in the centre of Newcastle to purchase all the other outdoor stuff we would need!
Other equipment that I purchased for the trip are; wrist mounted Garmin GPS, some Ice screw to hold down the kites and

BuggyBags supplied a specially made bag for the trip that fitted perfectly.

For the buggy I bought some Knobbly Bigfoot tyres and inserted a screw through each one from the inside with a spring flat nut on the other side to keep them in place.
This done we took the buggy to the local Ice rink to test it and see how it behaved. Although we only pushed it around we were positively encouraged by the results. The buggy felt just as good as it normally did on sand.

Next it was off to Holland to try the Ice skates on a frozen lake and to test all the outdoor gear to make sure we would be warm enough but not to hot. Positive results all round and the Ice skates were great fun.

For the car the usual travel stuff, jack, triangle bulbs tow rope jump leads and fire extinguisher. Two new extreme weather batteries fitted. Full service yet to come."
